Loved this post with so many lovely updates. We had a couple hens die. Might replace them this summer if and when my Buff Orp goes broody. We are leaning toward trying Olive Eggers next. I’ve been researching and keeping close tabs on bird flu. If it’s any encouragment, the bird flu has not been affecting homestead or farm flocks. It’s something like .01% or less compared to commercial poultry operations. So I bet all will be well 💜
Thanks Keturah! I still have 2 Buff Orpingtons but they haven’t raised chicks. Might need to get a couple more. I always overdo it though. With the cost of grain, I really have to keep it in control though. Fingers crossed on the bird flu.
None of my hens have raised chicks, but last summer my Orp was determined to hatch them from thin air. It’s easy to overdo chickens. We are down to three hens and I keep thinking, I should probably order extra chicks just in case… 😆 fingers crossed with you.
You never fail to interest me, no matter what you are doing. When I think about it, I am amazed at how long we have been "friends" even though we have never met. This morning, I was on Ravelry, looking for a sock pattern to knit for house shoes. I stopped by your page and got caught up in page after page of your gorgeous designs. What a remarkable achievement! All those colorful garments. I am proud to have knit an amazing number of them. Mostly the smaller things like gloves, hats and scarves. It doesn't really get cold enough here to justify making one of the beautiful sweaters, but I might just have to anyway! Thank you for inspiring me in many ways....♥️
As always, loved your newsletter. Great pictures of the sheep and I especially loved hearing about your chickens. It brought back the memories of "Candi Chicken", the colorful chicken with a top knot. It has been a cold winter here too, but nothing like you have!
My very favorite jewelry artist, who I've known since the 70's, has a jewelry business in Brattleboro. Evensong jewelry. David Nugent is his name and I can honestly say I don't see him at shows enough any more. His work is unique and I never leave home without wearing a piece or two.
I always enjoy your newsletter and hearing what you are up to! For Valentine's Day, I made some simple collaged hearts and left them out for Daniel. He reciprocated by getting me some dark chocolate malted milk balls
I love your farm notes…..
Thanks Penelope!
You have the best newsletters! Baked a batch of cookies for Valentine’s
Thank you Donna! So much snow today — and really heavy. Feel like I won’t get out til spring! Hope all is good.

Thanks for another interesting post. Brightens my day.

Glad I can do that!
