Candi Jensen Designs Substack

Even though we have know each other for at least 40 years, I am still amazed when I see your house and your work. I love you newsletters, all of them, and look forward to every issue. I remember when I first produced the Knit and Crochet Now show on PBS, you were nervous about being on air, so glad you overcame that and joined us. It was so much fun working together. Love you Kristin, keep creating.

Kristin: I have been a follower of yours since I first saw you on Knit and Crochet. I love your newsletter its like having a dear friend send you a letter filling you in on all the wonderful things going on in their life. They share information on books they read, recipes they have tried, quits and knitting projects etc. The list goes on. So heart warming.

Happy holidays to you and your family. Looking forward to your next newsletter.

Happy Happy Thanksgiving to you dear Kristin! How I have loved following you first on your blog probably 15 years ago or so! When I first found your blog and website, it was like I had met a boon companion in someone who loves to make and create along different mediums! I still remember oohing and aaahing over the bright colored tea towels made from your paintings; the gorgeous Julia yarns; the amazing patterns for knitting; the pottery (I think you may have been painting pottery even then?) and the embroidery! I have one book of yours, Color by Kristin, and I have used it and told all my knitting students about it for so many years. I tell them it is my bible for all things Fair Isle and that they really don't beed any other resource, except maybe a book of Fair isle patterns to add and mix and match with yours. It is still my go-to knitting book! What I love most is how you have made an entire life of creativity, which is what I myself continue to aspire to! All the best to you Kristin, and a very Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! 🌟🌸😍💖

Hi Jenn - What an incredibly nice note. Thanks so much. You made my day. You know when I was writing Color By Kristin I knew it was going to be my last knitting book and I wanted to put my whole knitting soul into it. Glad it has been helpful for you (and others). Thanks so much for spreading the word.

I read your Substack each time you post. I love how you include all your talents in it - as opposed to just one thing. I think both you and I find it so rewarding to do all kinds of art and crafts.

I hope you and yours have a lovely Thanksgiving! Kristin

Hi! I used to get your newsletters and have missed reading them. They are always interesting. I was wondering how your daughter, Julia, is doing

Hi Susan - Glad you found me again. I'm going to try to keep it up this winter. Summer gets awfully busy. Julia is 26 now. She is living with us. Plenty of challenges but she is happy and coming along. Happy Thanksgiving. Kristin

Hey Kristin! I remember back in the '80s. I had an oversized vintage men's wool coat that I bought in the East Village and you commented on it. I took it as a huge compliment that you noticed and appreciated my style. 🙂 If you do an online pottery sale and are willing to ship to the West Coast, put me at the top of your list! Say hi to everyone at Thanksgiving for me! XO, Jessica

HI Jess! I still remember that coat. In college I found a similar Harris Tweed men's coat and I loved it and wore it a lot. I think Mom probably got rid of it because she thought it was horrible. Such great wool and warmth.

I'll be happy to ship to west coast. I ship UPS now which is a little better but takes longer. Not sure when I will be ready for it but will announce in newsletter.

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving. Love your IG posts. Kristin

I discovered you on PBS, when you were a guest on one of the knitting shows (I forget which one). That was at least 10 years ago. I don't knit much these days; I have a very ill husband, and there have been a lot of challenges. Your newsletters are always a bright spot for me, and your celebration of color inspires me!! Thank you for all that you do.

Hi Ande - I'm glad I can brighten up your day as you care for your husband. I'm not knitting much these days - have projects still to finish. I'll probably get back to it some day. I will send good vibes your way as you care for your husband. Thanks for taking the time to write!

Surprised to see the mention of me at VK. Didn’t realize how I helped you get a wonderful start to your career. I’ve followed you forever! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. ❤️

Hi Nancy - You didn't know that? I can remember how darn thrilled I was getting that little blurb in the back of VK. You have always been one of my heroes and I appreciate all the help and friendship you have shown me. I have been thinking about you and Phil and hope things are going okay. Can't believe it has been 40 years since I started in the yarn biz. Things have changed so much. Still fun to watch. And of course I value the friendships.

You are going to get a kick out of this - I see Margaret Bruzelius almost every Saturday as she lives in Amherst and she comes to the market. She is doing great. Have seen her grandkids and met her husband Peter. They are great.

Hugs to Phil! XOXOXO Kristin

I first came to know you through your work with Classic Elite Yarns. I carried their yarns in my shop in the early 2000's, and I always looked forward to your designs.

Then we met working with Candi Jensen on the TV show Knit and Crochet Now!

Not sure how long I’ve been reading your newsletter, but it’s been many years. Thank you, I love it and it helps fill the hole where our farm once was. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hi Lindy - So glad I can fill the farm hole. It's one reason I write this thing - I know there are lots of folks who grew up around animals and no longer have them. It's great to be able to share it with all of you. Happy Thanksgiving. Kristin

Kristin! I've been receiving your notes since at least 1990. That's almost 35 years! My husband still thinks your hats are the best and I have some of your Julia yarn waiting I still wear the sweater that was on the cover of Interweave Knits in 2004. You are a dear long time friend!

OMG Susan! How cool. That was a good sweater. And the Julia Yarn was fantastic. Luckily I have a good stash of it. It's the only yarn I like knitting with. Hope that you get to it one day. Send me a photo if you do!!!!

That is a long time for you to read my newsletters. Thank you so much for doing that - and sharing. My best to you for Thanksgiving! Kristin
