Thank you for being so real and for such a wonderful update! January for me as a creative is my dyeing time. I love to add color to fabrics and yarn when it’s so not colorful outside. It’s also a time to sit in a cozy chair and play with yarn in the form of crochet motifs and colors. I look forward to hearing from other creatives about their January journey. Thanks for this new option to connect❤️

Hi Nancy - I love to dye yarns too but haven't done it in so long. I've been playing with crochet hexagon and sewing together 2 hexie afghans that have been lying dormant since last winter. I think I may finish them and still have enough hexies for another! And I get the cozy chair thing! I love mine too. Have a great weekend.

Hi Kristin and Friends of Kristin! I do love shopping at Kalusytan's, but I'd like to introduce you to a young spice company who products I've been enjoying the past year: Diaspora https://www.diasporaco.com/ It was founded by a young Indian woman who buys directly from farmers even before the harvest -- like a spice CSA. The quality is out of this world and the families earn better than fair trade prices.

Oh wow Allison - that is a great link. Thanks so much for that lead on the spices. i have had a good time shopping at Kalustyan's in person in NYC. A bit overwhelming. Normally I pick up my spices at the bulk section on the food coop. Thanks so much.

I always look forward to reading your newsletters and checking out your links. Today, reading about your sheep and lambs has taken me back to my childhood on a dairy farm. I can almost smell the sweet, milky odor of a lamb!

I've been knitting my way through autumn and winter, and nursing a broken foot as well. Six weeks of not walking on my foot, then eight weeks of wearing a boot brace has given me lots of sitting time that's just perfect for knitting. And it's kept me safely isolated at home during the pandemic.

I have a question for you: I want to do some color work, and my stash of Color by Kristin has dwindled. I'm having a difficult time finding good quality yarn for stranded color work. Do you have any suggestions? Color by Kristin is such a great yarn. I miss it!

So sorry to hear Webs has been sold. I hope it can maintain its uniqueness.

Hi Dixie. I hope your foot is better now. That sure is a lot of knitting time! As for a substitute for Color By Kristin. I'm not real aware of all the yarns available now unfortunately. I have used Northampton from Valley Yarns/Webs when I need a new color and mix it with Color By Kristin. It isn't quite the same because it is all wool. The mohair and the alpaca in the Color By Kristin is what makes it so much better. The other yarn that has good colors is Cascade's 220 but it too is all wool so won't be as soft and shiny.

Maybe someone will read this and chime in w/ an idea. Good luck!

Hi JoAnn - I didn't know they were still showing Knit and Crochet on PBS. I did it for several years but the program got purchased by Annies and they took it totally in house so they no longer needed me! It was fun while it lasted. I do get a kick out of hearing from people that I am still on there sometimes. I'll try to keep inspiring. Best wishes. Kristin
