I love knowing that Bargello is making a comeback. My mother made many Bargello pillows in the 70's - She passed away 2 years ago and always wanted to keep her hands busy almost to the day she died. When she wasn't able to knit anymore she asked me to find some Bargello kits for her. There were few I could find and very expensive so I never bought any for her. :-( I also knew her eyesight would not allow her to follow the pattern. Lucky for me, her handywork lives on, as I have all the pillows she made in the 70's. They are beautiful and add a pop of color like nothing else! (and my cat really loves the warmth of the wool yarn!) Now I'm thinking I need to continue her legacy with Bargello of my own. I love your colorful emails/posts/etc !!!

Thank you Kristin for your cheerful and colorful news letters. I've been a fan of yours since the 90's when your Kids Knitting Book was first published. My friend Lisa brought it to my attention because of her connection with the Ashwood Waldorf School. Since then, I have acquired 3 more of your publications. I love color, texture and fabric. I watched the tutorial on the Bargello Mittens yesterday.

Now I believe I am able to conquer my fear of knitting with more than one colorway at a time. Your instruction really simplified the process for me. Love, love, love the photos of your home. Although i am not quite as brave as you are with color, I manage to sew, paint, garden and knit to bring more color to my life. I look forward to more News from your Farm. You are a delight!

Oh my...I've drawn in my breath with wonder at nearly every photo in this post Kristin! That first one is simply shimmering with energy and I love the composition of layers that I see from the top of the photo in all its gloriousness, all the way to the bottom layer full of sheepy goodness! Wow. But then the photo with your newly completed Hexagon Blanket rivals that first photo! And with SNOW coming down and everything! Such glorious colors you have combined so well in your hexies. Is this your Julia yarn? I used to have some bits and bobs of it left and loved choosing just the right projects for that luscious yarn you created. Didn't it have a touch of mohair or cashmere? I just remember it having the most beautiful halo and softness, not to mention the gorgeous saturated colors. Anyway...my own Hexagon blanket was begun when you first posted about his blanket (was it three years ago or so?) I have not been so good to keep going with it and I'm now inspired to pull it out again. I loved how Sarah referenced it as a Sedge Blanket...one that grows no matter the seasons of our life. And the Hexagon Blanket surely displays the "inflorescence" that Sedges also have. I LOVE that word too...I'll have to write more about sedges and their inflorescence...don't you love words? Thank you for all that you put into your incredibly newsy and inspiring posts Kristin! I love following the links you include and being introduced to new things. All the best to you and your husband in lambing season and in all you create on your beautiful farm. 🙏💖

Thank you so much for these Colorful posts! I live in Davis, CA, where our ag school used to include sheep dog trials in the annual open house, Picnic Day. The video from last week took me back to the wonders of watching those human&dog pairs work their magic.

I LOVE the new chevron gloves with their sporty striped cuffs!

Yay hexagons! Kristin, have you heard what has happened to Vogue Knitting magazine? I had subscribed for years and it suddenly stopped after summer ‘23. I cannot find an answer after many attempts.
