Hello Colorful Friends:
Popping into your email in-box today with a host of links I’m finding interesting and a big announcement. Drum-roll please……..
POTTERY, POTTERY, POTTERY! I’ve finally added lots of new pieces of my handmade hand painted colorful pottery to my website. I know - it’s very late to the holiday gifting party and these will not arrive in time. I figured I might as well get them on my website and if they sell, fine. If not - at least the shop will have something in it. I will be shipping up until Wednesday the 22nd. I use USPS Priority Mail. They will not guarantee Christmas delivery but I’m sure you all know this. If you order and do not need until the New Year, add a note in the comments section of the order. I will ship your order after the New Year and there will be less chance of a holiday shipping nightmare. You can read about my shipping policies including refunds on shipping excess charges on each listing. Every piece is different and I use recycled boxes so it’s difficult for me to be accurate on the shipping charges.
THE POTTERY WILL BE AVAILABLE AT 5 PM EASTERN STANDARD TIME TODAY ON MY WEBSITE HERE — I have a preview up now.
We had our second snowstorm of the season yesterday and luckily it wasn’t much more than an inch with ice and sleet. The weather gurus were predicting 3-6”. We spent all day taking down electronet fencing yesterday since the sheep have been grazing hither and yon because there is still grass left to eat. The sheep are almost all back at the barns except a handful and we will be having lambs soonish.
HERE ARE TODAY’S LINKS….. Enjoy. They are a bit heavy on food category but tis that time of year.
• I’m enjoying Ruth Reichl’s new Substack newsletter. In case you don’t know who Ruth is, she was the Editor in Chief of Gourmet, among other positions, for many years.
• These sound really good. Chewy No Back Grain and Nut Bars
• As do these. Oat and Rosemary Biscuits
• Cookbook Author Cathy Barrow writes a newsletter called Cook Garden Knit Repeat. I’m really enjoying it. You can sign up for it here.
• 47 Christmas movies on Netflix
• I listened to this podcast “The Norwegian Sweater Detective.” Interesting. It is from a website that is new to me called The Craftmanship Initiative which is definitely worth checking out. Their podcast series has lots of interesting stories to listen to about makers from all over the world.
• How Amanda Hesser Changed The Way We Cook.
• Can’t wait to see this movie:
• I love this woman. I follow her on Instagram and really enjoyed this video about her. (Click the link if the video doesn’t play.)
I want to take this space to thank you all for reading and following along with me over the years. I know the content and frequency of posting and writing has been a bit skimpy this year. Hopefully 2022 will be better for all of us.
I wish you and yours a Happy Holiday Season and the best for the New Year. I’m ending this newsletter with one of my favorite photos of a moment at our farm several years ago. If you look closely, you’ll find our Border Collie Nessie amongst those sheep.
With my best wishes for health, happiness, and colorful creativity in 2022,
I just want to thank you for all the years of inspiration you've given me. I love your art, your life, your spirit, and I wish we lived on the Same side of the US, at least. I also craft everything I see- your videos of the homes of Maude and her friends were wonderful. Have a wonderful holiday and please keep inspiring me! Barb in CA
