Last Market of 2020
Hello Colorful Friends!
Every Saturday, for 35 weeks out of the year, The Farmer and I set up a booth at the Amherst Farmers Market on the Common in western Massachusetts. Tomorrow (Saturday the 21st of November) is the last Amherst Farmers Market of 2020. It's been a bittersweet year --- this year of Covid-19 and all the uncertainty that it has caused in every single person's life in the US and the world. The market was late to start this year. In fact, we weren't sure that it would start at all. In late May, the Town of Amherst gave the Market the go-ahead - as long as all kinds of safety pre-cautions were in place and followed.
Surprisingly, it has been a fantastic year for all the vendors at the market. The location was moved from a parking lot to the beautiful grassy Town Common so that booths could be spaced far apart. We all had to put in place safety measures to keep our customers safe. People have been coming out and we have met many new folks who are interested in our farm raised lamb along with our long term dedicated and much appreciated customers.
Even in normal years, I don't get off the farm much. The Saturday Market is our day out and both Mark and I look forward to seeing old customers and meeting new ones. Besides talking food and farming and helping people with recipes for our different cuts, the market has also given me a platform for my surface design. My handmade Tea Towels using fabric of my own design and my wheel thrown and hand painted pottery have been developing their own little following. Tomorrow, Mark and I will have lots of beautiful cuts of our pasture raised lamb for customers to purchase for their freezers for winter meals. And I will have new pottery and new tea towels.
Tomorrow is a bit sad because it marks the end of my social life for the year. I will miss my fellow vendors - swapping stories from the week. And I will miss the lovely customers. If you are local to western Massachusetts and you have time, stop on by The Amherst Farmers Market and make sure you say hi. Hours are 8 to 1:30. It was awesome to meet some of the readers of this newsletter last week!
I will be back after Thanksgiving with some ideas for holiday gifting and some good links for sure. Thank you all for all the orders for the new Tea Towels. I've ordered a little extra fabric just in case you missed out. The fabric will be here the beginning of December and I will be sew, sew, sewing! I also hope (fingers crossed) to have some more pottery to sell in my on-line shop. If I don't get it done, I will do a Shop Update sometime in January.
I still have my Sheep Notecards available. Info here on my website.
I have added an assorted pack of 2 each design. You can find that here.
For knitters, I've included photos or my recently released World Knits Collection PDF Downloads at the end of this newsletter.
Need a quick Christmas Stocking Pattern? Here are two of my favorite designs -- each featuring 5 or 6 designs. Click the photo for more information.
Stay healthy and have a lovely Thanksgiving - however you celebrate it in 2020. Thanks again for all your support and kindness. Sorry for the lack of links this week. I haven't had much time to discover things to share with you.
Thank you for reading and for your support. I hope to see some of you tomorrow.
Yours in color and creativity,
Kristin Nicholas

Here is a video of my Talk at Google. I went to Cambridge, Massachusetts and spoke at their offices there in late June.
A fun video of our farm, our farmhouse, and my family. Our farm is located 2 hours from Boston and 3 1/2 hours from NYC. We are at the northern most part of western Massachusetts bordering Vermont. Our farm is 15 minutes off of Route 91, the north/south highway connecting Montreal to NYC.
