New from Kristin Nicholas Designs
Hello Colorful Friends!
I've been a busy bee here at the farm. I'm starting to think towards the holidays and so this newsletter is a bit more product based than usual. Don't worry - I've got some nice links at the end for those of you who look forward to what I've found intriguing.
Onward to my NEW Tea Towel Designs and Sheep Themed Notecards.
Tea Towels - I am trying something new this season --- I am taking pre-orders for my new Tea Towel designs today through this coming Monday the 16th. In the past, I have only had a few of each design available - never enough for a lot of folks to order. After I tally all the Pre-Orders, I will order the fabric. The fabric will arrive shortly after Thanksgiving. I will sew the Tea Towels and get them on their way to you in time for the holidays. Note that when you order, your account will be charged but Tea Towels will be shipped in December.
Tea Towels are $26 with FREE SHIPPING. Size is 16" x 26". CLICK HERE TO ORDER
First up is my new Suzani Panel Tea Towel available in four colorways - Lime, Red, Coral and Blue. This design is based on one of my favorite embroidery techniques from Uzbekistan. It is graphic and bold and has a mod feeling to it.
My second new design I call Bountiful Life. This design features fruit, veggies, insects, birds, a peacock and flowers. It is available in Orange, Celery, Yellow and Blue.
Lastly is my Pottery Vases Tea Towel. Inspired by my love of making and collecting and using pottery vases, this design would make a nice gift for a gardener, potter or flower lover. Available in Yellow, Blue, Gray, and Kelly Green.
TEA TOWEL PRE-ORDERS CLOSE ON MONDAY NOVEMBER 16TH AT MIDNIGHT.
For years, I have photographed our sheep. I had five of my favorite sheep and lamb photos made into cards. Here they are......
I have added an assorted pack of 2 each design. You can find that here.
I will have one more Online Pottery Shop Update coming in early to mid-December. (Not a lot of time to breathe here :) !!!!) If you are local and want to purchase pottery, I bring some each week to The Amherst (MA) Farmers Market on the Common for the next 2 Saturdays November 14th and 21st from 8-1:30. Info here. Pick up some farm-raised lamb and some of my art.
In farm news, The Farmer has been moving the various groups of grazing sheep to their winter barns. Next week, blade shearer Kevin Ford is coming to shear them. He leaves a nice layer of wool on animals so they won't be cold. Getting the wool off them at this time of year will make it easier for the lambs to find their mama's teats. Some of the ewes look pregnant already so we may have lambs in December.
Due to the pandemic, I will not be holding my Annual Holiday Open House. It makes me so sad that I won't see the wonderful people who have ventured to the farm each year -- even last year when there was a snowstorm! Hopefully next year - fingers crossed.
Here are a few good links for the week.
• I am crazy over marbled paper. I haven't experimented much but maybe one day. In the meantime, I LOVE this DOUBLE MARBLED PAPER by Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. There is a nice video too.
• Have you seen the incredible Soundsuits made by Artist Nick Cave? Beautiful work with meaning for our times. His work is featured in a longer video here.
• Betz White is running an on-line Felt Ornament Making Class. Learn .
• A nice tutorial for handmade wrapping paper. It's a project kids could easily do too.
• While we are talking about Tutorials, here's mine for Holiday Birch Houses.
• Hunger and food are a real problem in the US today. Our friend Monte Belmonte has raised many many many thousands of dollars for The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts by "marching 43 miles" every year before Thanksgiving. This year's goal is $365,000. If you have a few minutes, listen to his interview with Deacon John Leary about how his organization feeds many, many local families HERE. Truly inspirational. (11 minutes)
• Cute gift ideas for cat lovers HERE.
For knitters, I've included photos or my recently released World Knits Collection PDF Downloads below. It's about time to start knitting again - wouldn't you agree? Not too early for Christmas Stocking Knitting, for sure. Here's two of my favorite PDF Download Patterns -- each featuring 5 or 6 designs. Click the photo for more information.
Thank you for reading and for your support. Have a great weekend. Stay healthy.
Remember - Tea Towel Pre-Order Deadline Monday November 16th.
Yours in color and creativity,
Kristin Nicholas

Here is a video of my Talk at Google. I went to Cambridge, Massachusetts and spoke at their offices there in late June.
A fun video of our farm, our farmhouse, and my family. Our farm is located 2 hours from Boston and 3 1/2 hours from NYC. We are at the northern most part of western Massachusetts bordering Vermont. Our farm is 15 minutes off of Route 91, the north/south highway connecting Montreal to NYC.
