3rd Annual Holiday Open House
Hello Colorful Friends:
Thanksgiving is coming quickly and here at Leyden Glen Farm we will be celebrating with my sisters, brother-in-laws, our Mom, the cousins and more. We are looking forward to catching up with all the cousins and hearing what they are up to as they make their way into the world. We will have a roaring fire in the fireplace, two turkeys to make sure there will be plenty of leftovers for sandwiches and turkey soup. Everyone brings a favorite dish to share. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I love being able to share our home and farm with my family. I am so thankful that my husband Mark (The Farmer) seems to be healing from the hip replacement surgery and complications that have been ongoing since July. I hope you too will be enjoying a meal with family or friends if you are celebrating Thanksgiving in the USA.

I am popping in to your inbox today to invite you to come to our 4th Annual Holiday Open House December 1 + 2 from 10-4 in beautiful Leyden, Massachusetts. Come be inspired by the colorful hand painted and printed interior of our 1751 farmhouse and sparkly holiday decorations. Meet my family, the sheep, the dogs, the cats. I've been making scads of handmade pottery and will have some new tea towel designs. My books and notecards will also be available.
Here is some of the pottery which I have been working on which will be ready to go at the Holiday Open House. These vessels will be fired two times - once as you see them and then secondly with a gloss glaze to make them waterproof.

My friends Deborah Garner, Alicia Hunsicker and Gail Callahan (aka The Kangaroo Dyer) will be selling their lovely work too. Julia is making handmade ornaments. Pick up some of our pasture raised lamb for holiday meals.
Here is a short list of good links which you may find interesting:
• A fantastic article about sheepherding in Washington State via my friend Therese.
• I met this lovely woman at a craft show a few weeks ago. She sells lovely needle felted animals and supplies to do it yourself. Check out her shop here.
• So proud of our friend Monte who was just featured on E-Town as an achievement award winner. Here is why they gave him the award. Last year, Monte and crew raised over $250,000 for our local Food Bank. I love where I live because wacky ideas like this can happen and prosper for years. Go Monte.
• We had a bumper crop of butternut squash this year and I am going to try this soup soon. (Bonus link to 10 different soup recipes - I love soup!)
• These paper flowers are incredible.
I can't wait to meet you here at the farm. Bring a friend, your Mom, your kids. It is a joyous event and there will be refreshments.
