My New Book publishes April 10th.
Hello Colorful Friends!
2! No that isn't a typo. It is me holding my breath and hoping for the best. In only two days, my newest book Crafting The Patterned Home will be published. Thanks so much for all the orders. If you haven't placed an order yet, never fear - there is plenty of time. If you did place an order, Thank YOU! You will be happy to know that as of tomorrow morning, every order placed on April 5 or before has been packed and is on the way to its new home. I got special permission from the book warehouse to ship them out in advance of the publication date.
I am really excited to hear how Crafting A Patterned Home is received. It took me over a year and a half to make this book. In it, there are 35 patterned projects that you can make for in and around your home. I employ all different areas of making - painting, sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, printing and stamping. It is a festival of handmade pattern.
Here is the lovely cover. I think it speaks to what the book is about - lots of pattern on walls, textiles, furniture, lampshades and more.
I am inching slowly along to my goal of selling 500 books. You can read more about that on my blog here. Thanks so much for placing an order directly with me. More info on ordering below. With each order I ship directly from our farmhouse to yours, I will be including some special gifts. You will receive a set of 5 full color postcards with photos by the photographer of the book Rikki Snyder. I am offering free Media Mail shipping. And I have painted and designed four different bookplates. The newest designs are below. You can specify which one you want by writing me a note in the order section - either Flowers or Patterns.
Here's how you order:

I haven't had tons of time to be looking around on-line but here are some links to things I have found interesting and inspiring ----
• Crazy beautiful lace murals on buildings through out the world here.
• Have you ever heard of a dress made completely of sunflowers? It is astoundingly beautiful. Check it out here. • Incredible crochet from this Japanese designer here.
• Are you ever curious about the different types of crochet hooks? Check out this article.
• Did you watch Victoria on PBS? I did. What I didn't realize was that the writer of the series Daisy Goodwin is the daughter of one of my decorative painting heroes Jocasta Innes, author of Paint Magic. Cool.
Yours in color and creativity,
Kristin Nicholas
