Holiday Open House this Weekend
Hello Colorful Friends!
The holiday season is in full swing here at Leyden Glen Farm. I hope to meet some of you here this weekend at our 3rd Holiday Open House.
My studio is in high production mode - handpainted ceramics are cooling in the kiln now. Julia is into pom pom production. My sewing machine is buzzing with the annual collection of tea towels printed in my own designs. I will be signing copies of all of my knitting, stitching and craft books. And you will be getting a preview of my new book - Crafting A Patterned Home (April 2018). Below are some sneak peeks of what we have been making.
My friends Gail Callahan - aka The Kangaroo Dyer and Deborah Garner are also busy at work producing hand dyed silks and yarns, jewelry and textiles. It's going to be a fun weekend.
The kitchen will be abuzz with activity, snacks and sweets. There will even be soups and a lamb tagine for sampling. Our farm raised lamb will be for sale for holiday meals.
It's going to be a fun weekend and I hope some of you will be able to make it. Here are the directions to the farm. We are also on Google maps under Leyden Glen Lamb for those of you using GPS.
Bring a friend, your Mom or the family. Kids love to see the sheep and the dogs. There will be something for everyone.
Here are some fun links for you to explore today.....
• A super cute wool felted sheep project HOW TO here.
• The proper way to eat a pomegranate. You know - it is pomegranate season.
• I am enjoying the new podcast by Christopher Kimball called Milk Street Radio. Lots of interesting stuff and call-ins.
• BTW - I listen to podcasts via The Stitcher app on my phone. I love its simplicity.
• I love these sunflower paintings by Jimmy Wright.
• Oh how I would love to see the work of the floral bandit.
• Sally Muir (that Sally Muir) writes about working for J.L. Carr - author of A Month in the Country. I loved this book.
• This article in the NYTimes about Etsy is an interesting read. Congratulations to Abby Glassenberg for being featured!
Hope to see you here this weekend.
Yours in color and creativity,
Kristin Nicholas
