OPEN HOUSE DECEMBER 3/4 2016 in Leyden, MA at Leyden Glen Farm
Hello Colorful Friends!
Thanksgiving has come and gone here in the USA. I hope you all who celebrated had a lovely holiday weekend. I want to take this newsletter to thank you all for your support over the years. WIthout you, I could not do what I do -- making and creating colorful things whether they be stitched, knit, crocheted, thrown, sculpted, baked and written. Thank you so much for your continuing support as we all navigate this world of ours.
We had a nice holiday weekend. Besides the annual turkey feast, we spent Friday with my extended family making wreaths. We all contributed different varieties of greens so the wreaths are a nice mix of textures. I've begun decorating our farmhouse with pine roping and this week will be pulling out all the holiday decorations in anticipation of our Second Annual Open House/Farm. Julia and I have been busy little bees making things to sell next weekend - she has been making ornaments to sell and I have been painting pottery. The photo below is of some vases before the bisque (first) firing. Each piece has to be fired in my kiln twice.
I hope some of you will be able to make it to the Holiday Open House this coming Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 4. Our farm is located 2 hours from Boston, 3 1/2 hours from NYC, and 1 1/4 hours north of Hartford, CT. You can find directions to our farm here. The address is 31 Glen Road, Leyden MA 01301. If possible, follow the directions via the link because there are landmarks and sometimes GPS mis-directs people.
I'm putting together a little self-guided farmhouse tour which will highlight the different decorative things I have made in the home. My goal is to have everyone leave inspired to create their very own colorful home. You will also be able to see some of the projects that will be featured in my 2018 upcoming book Crafting A Patterned Home.
My friends Deborah Garner (incredible textiles), Gail Callahan (aka The Kangaroo Dyer), and Alicia Hunsicker will also be participating in the Open House. My neighbor Debbie will be making holiday wreaths. My husband Mark (aka The Farmer) will be selling our farm-raised lamb for your upcoming holiday meals.

Here are some interesting things I have found on the web this week...... I fear it is a little slim because I have not spent much time on-line this week because I have been spending it with family!
• I made this Turkey Tikka Masala with leftover turkey and it was delicious. Not at all difficult either.
• Margaret has a list of her favorite things for rural living.
• I am enjoying this blog about life in the Spitalfields neighborhood of London.
• We have recently discovered a British t.v. show called This Farming Life that is on YouTube. Check it out here.
Yours in color and creativity....
