Come and "Get Stitched at the Farm" with Kristin Nicholas - Announcing 3 Creative Retreats Here at Leyden Glen Farm
Hello Colorful Friends!
The sheep have been sheared and are ready for the summer heat. You can read about it and watch some videos here and here.
Thank you for signing up and reading for my Once In a While Newsletter. As a newsletter subscriber, you are getting advance notice of the new schedule for Creative Retreats here at my family's farm this summer. Lucky you!
This evening, I am happy to announce the new Creative Retreats for the upcoming 2016 Summer and Fall seasons to be held in my studio here at Leyden Glen Farm. This year, I am hosting three different retreats.
July 16-17 - Color, Fabric Printing + Lampshade Painting for Your Home
July 30-31 - Color, Fabric Printing + Embroidery
September 23-24 - Color + Embroidery for Knitters + Crocheters
You can sign up for Two Days (Early Bird Pricing with a $35 discount before May 15th).
Can't make it for 2 days? Then sign up for the Day One Option. Of course, I would love if you came for both days because there is so much for me to teach and share and you will get so much out of it.
Check out all the details here.
Our farm - Leyden Glen Farm, a working sheep farm - is 2 hours from Boston and 3 1/2 hours from NYC. To have a preview of our farm, home, and my studio, check out the video at the bottom of this email.
I look forward to meeting you here at the farm this year. If you have any questions, just respond to this email and I will happily answer any of your questions.
Yours in color,
Kristin Nicholas
p.s. If you scroll to the end of this email, I've included some fun links that so many of you seem to enjoy each newsletter.
A fun video of our farm, our farmhouse, and my family. A good preview for sure.
For those of you who got to the end, here are some fun things I have found on the www this past week or so. Enjoy!
• I love this feature on the studio of Australian textile designer Cath Derksema of Prints Charming.
• A couple of weekends ago, I took an on-line class with Jessica Swift called Pattern Camp. I learned so much and now have to practice designing patterns on my computer in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Here's more information.
• I hope I can make patterns as beautiful as these by Llew Mejia.
• I have been working on my new book. Part of my process is developing a Pinterest Board of inspirational photos. Here it is.
• I was interviewed on Marly Bird's Yarn Thing podcast. You can listen to it here. There are prizes.
• I love this and this pillow from Anthro that combine embroidery with colorful fabric bases. It is a definite trend and one which I strongly believe in. In fact this summer, I will be teaching just that at our farm.
• It's Asparagus Season here in western Massachusetts. This recipe by Deb Perlman is on my list to cook this week.
• Speaking of Asparagus, the local potters are throwing a party this weekend. Check it out here.
Have a great weekend everyone. Hope to see you here at the farm.
