The Cast of Season 7 of Knit and Crochet Now
Hello Colorful Friends:
It's hard to believe we are over one quarter the way through 2016. Spring is on its way here in western Massachusetts although today we woke up to a blanket of white puffy snow. They are predicting more for tonight too. The soon to bloom daffodils are in a holding pattern for now.
Work is progressing on my latest book Crafting a Patterned Home. Although the book will not be published until 2018, my deadline is this November. I have so many ideas swimming around in my head and on my Pinterest boards including the one I call Pattern Ideas I Love. You can see some of what I have accomplished over on my blog HERE. Suffice it to say, I have a whole pile of work ahead of me.
This week, I am headed to the eastern part of Massachuestts to speak and teach on Wednesday at the Essex County Needlecraft Guild. This is my second time there with this lovely group of women. I enjoy this guild because it encompasses so many different fiber related crafts including knitting, rug hooking, embroidery, quilting and more.
The newest season Knit and Crochet Now (the PBS TV Show that I am the Knitting Expert on) has just launched on PBS Stations throughout the USA. You can find out if it is showing in your area by checking your local listings. This season, we had a new Host - none other than TV news personality/crafter Deborah Norville. I loved working with Deborah. She is very smart, personable and down to earth. Totally not a diva. You can listen to a great PODCAST INTERVIEW with Deborah by Kathy Elkins over on the Webs Ready, Set, Knit Podcast here. Here is a photo of Deborah and all of the cast on the set.
Fun news from our friends at Houzz.com. The video of our Colorful Farmhouse has been watched almost 105,000 times on YouTube. WOW! If you haven't seen it yet, you can find the video at the bottom of this email.
Here are some interesting things I have found on the www lately.
• I love this art blog called Pink Pagoda Studio written by artist Barbara Perrine Chu. If you sign up to follow her by email, you will get a daily dose of beautiful art from present time and past.
• Listen to Kaffe Fassett talk about color here. (Via Abby Glassenberg - thanks.)
• Spring is slowly coming here in western Massachusetts. I loved these photos of beautiful pink blooms featured on SFGirl. I can't wait til our orchard blooms in May.
• These cookies, made by Chef Judit Czinkné Poór feature designs inspired by embroidery and lace. Incredible detail but I wouldn't have the nerve to eat them.
• If I were to go to the UK this summer, I would make sure to schedule a trip to the Victoria Art Gallery in Bath. They will be having an exhibit called Bloomsbury Rooms and will be gathering together many of the original bits of Bloomsbury interiors all under one roof. Lovely. Then I would head down to Sussex and re-visit Charleston again.
• There is a beautiful collection of rugs at the St Louis Art Museum. It was donated by James Ballard and includes some incredible handmade tents and yurts too. Check it out here. On view until May 8th.
I hope you all have a creative week.
With colorful best wishes,
Kristin Nicholas
This is the first video of our farm and farmhouse produced by Houzz.com. In it, you will see our sheep, our dogs - including Winston, chickens, family, and colorful home.
