Lots of New Lambs at Leyden Glen Farm
Hello Colorful Friends:
It's February already! Wow. Here at Leyden Glen Farm it hasn't been very colorful - lots of brown and white. We have been busy with Lambing Season. There are over 175 new lambs here with more to come. The weather has been kind to us - very little snow and warmer temperatures. The lambs are thriving and growing fast. I've been documenting lambing season over on my blog Getting Stitched on the Farm.
I have big news for you all..... I am writing another book for Roost Books. My book Crafting a Colorful Home did so great that they want another. I'll be working on it all this year with a November deadline. I'll be sharing bits and pieces of it over on my blog and my Instagram feed. Wish me luck. You can sign up to receive email messages of each blog post on the top left of my blog page. The book will not be published until 2018 - seems so far away!
You can still order signed copies of Crafting A Colorful Home on my website here. I offer free shipping and include a Kristin illustrated bookplate and 5 postcards. Check it out.
I've just begun the concepting and first chapter of the new book. Here is the table in my studio with some things I have been working on. The heavy lifting will be starting soon.
Here are some interesting things I have found on the internet lately.
•Farrow and Ball, the British Paint and Paper company has a cute video featuring farm animals and their new colors for 2016. Check it out here.
•Looking forward to this upcoming new cookbook from Imen MacDonald - an American woman who married an Irish farmer. Check out her blog here.
•I love this pretty mural from Anthropologie designed by Voutsa - an American NYC company specializing in custom murals and wallpaper. Beautiful.
•I discovered Kim Keever - an artist/photographer whose work is made by floating paint in water and using a camera. Stunning. Watch the video about his work here.
•Here is an interesting article from Selvedge Magazine about Harris Tweed. The photos of the tweed and the sheep are beautiful.
•Via Abby Glassenberg, an interesting article about Doug Tompkins, co-founder of the Esprit clothing label with his former wife Susie. I was a huge fan of Esprit in its 80's heyday. Cool clothing, nice fabric, and colors. I wore some of it to death. Interesting - the handmade quilt connection.
Spring is coming soon! I hope you are enjoying your days indoors while having the luxury of time to make things on the shorter days.
With colorful best wishes,
Kristin Nicholas
Love this Honda ad featuring singing sheep.
This is the first video of our farm and farmhouse produced by Houzz.com. In it, you will see our sheep, our dogs - including Winston, chickens, family, and colorful home.
