The Amazing Stitching Handbook for Kids
Hello Colorful Friends:
Popping in to your in-box today to tell you about my newest book - The Amazing Stitching Handbook for Kids. It has just been released by C&T Publishing.
I was approached by C&T a couple years ago about re-doing my out of print Kids Embroidery title from 2004. C&T has a devoted quilting and fabric store following. They have a new imprint called FunStitch Studio geared to kids and teens who are learning to sew. I jumped at the chance to have this important work back in print. Kids Embroidery was originally edited by Melanie Falick.
The Amazing Stitching Book is paperback. It includes all the original illustrations and how-to text. What's new is the name, 15 all new projects, and the book design I'll be posting some of the new projects on my blog. Above is my favorite - a stitched piece of printed cotton fabric that is embellished with embroidery stitches and then framed for a bedroom.
I am so happy that this work that teaches hand embroidery to kids is back in print in a new format. It is ready for a new generation of little stitchers. The nice thing about writing children's craft books is that every 10 years there is a new generation of kids to write for. If you have a little friend who might want to learn to stitch this summer, you might want to order them my new title. Check it out on my website here.
The book will begin shipping after August 5th when I return from a quick trip to Maine with Julia and my Mom.
See the special offer below for the first 10 buyers of The Amazing Stitching Handbook for Kids.
Note that I will not be shipping any orders from any of my webshops until August 5th.
In news from our farm, check out the dinner we went to on Friday evening. One of our lambs was used to feed over 50 people. The Chef - Chris Fischer - is the Author of the new cookbook The Beetlebung Farm Cookbook. Chris is a 12th generation farmer on Martha's Vineyard. The food was delicious and we were so happy that we were able to help feed the guests.
Here are some fun things I found on the web this week.
• Julia and I went to my favorite fabric store - Delectable Mountain - in Brattleboro, Vt on Saturday. We ran into a woman who was on her way to the National Show for Button Collectors in Manchester NH this week. As you can imagine, a great chat ensued. Check out more about the National Button Society here. If you live near Manchester NH, you might like to stop by. And if you are in Brattleboro, don't miss Delectable Mountain. It is like no other fabric store in the world.
• My friend Melanie Falick has left her job as Publishing Director at STC Craft. You can listen to an interesting podcast with her here.
• Blueberry Season is upon us. I love these Blueberry Bonanza Breakfast Bars. I made a batch for one of my retreats last year and they were a huge hit. Going to try them again this blueberry season. They would work for dessert or a grab and go snack too.
• Want to see a bit about the process of choosing a cover image for a book? Check out this post on Food52.
• There is another good video up on Houzz.com about a goose farmer. Check it out here.
I hope your summer is going swimmingly.
With colorful wishes,
Kristin Nicholas
