My New On-Line Pottery Shop
Good Evening Friends!
It is the last day in May. Five months of 2015 have whooshed by. Where did the time go?
Today, I am thrilled to announce my new Etsy Shop featuring my own hand painted colorful ceramics. This project has been in the works since last fall and I have finally gotten enough work completed to list the items on-line in a brand new Etsy Shop I have temporarily called Colorful Pottery. Check it out here.
Many years ago, I made handmade pottery and sold it at different art fairs. When Julia was born, I stopped making it because of the demands of a child, a farm, and writing books and other creative projects. My pots and paints have been pulling at my artistic self. Last fall, I dug out all my supplies and tested my electric kiln. I've been painting and making since then.
Hop on over to the new Etsy shop. "Favorite it" or "Heart" the items if you have time or the inclination. If you are a Pinterest user, pin away! Any help in spreading the word will be greatly appreciated!
If you are thinking of coming to our Leyden Glen Farm for a Retreat, I suggest signing up soon. Here is the page for more information. There are 5 spaces left in the Crewel Embroidery Retreat and 3 spaces left in the Knitting and Color Retreat. The new Fabric Retreat has just opened for registration and is limited to 6 students.
FABRIC PRINTING RETREAT - JULY 18/19 - BRAND NEW!
I had such fun teaching Fabric Printing in May that I have added a second Fabric Printing Retreat in July. Come to the farm and learn my super simple technique for printing fabric of your very own design. You will print a canvas bag and fabric for a tea towel or pillow. On Day Two we will experiment with other techniques including block printing and fabric painting. TWO DAYS $375. Includes lunches, snacks and beverages. Check it out here. For where to stay, see this page. Here is Robin, one of my returning students working away. FYI - This year, I have 5 students returning to the farm who have been here on past retreats. How cool is that?
Here are some interesting things I found on the web this week.
• This artist's studio featured on the Houzz.com website in eastern Oregon is amazing. Check out the large painting palettes he turned into a part of the decor. Genius.
• I love wacky lamps and lampshades. This post on MadCap Cottage features some beautiful ones that would really look fabulous in anyone's home.
• It is cold here and rainy for the next few days. I took the opportunity to make Persian Lamb and Rhubarb Stew. Then I made a delicious Rhubarb and Cornmeal Cake. Links go to the recipes on my sites. Do you have some rhubarb to harvest? What are your favorite recipes for it?
• Food 52 has an interesting way to keep scrambled eggs soft and non-rubbery but still be able to cook them quickly. Check it out here.
With colorful wishes,
Kristin Nicholas
