Free Knit + Crochet Patterns from Kristin Nicholas Designs
Good Evening Knitting and Stitching Friends -
I hope this note finds you safe and warm and enjoying the preparations for the upcoming holiday season. We have had a rather unseasonably cold bit of weather with some snow, ice, and general messiness. The sheep are still grazing, picking through the little bit of snow and eating hay. In a few weeks, lambing will begin. As you can see from the photo above, it is gray and white here and barely any color exists in the landscape.
Although there isn't much time left for you to knit my designs for holiday gifts, there is still time to order my Kids Embroidery book to share with a young person in your life. $19.95 plus shipping. I will also include a small piece of linen, an embroidery needle and a skein of embroidery floss. Teaching a child to embroider is a gift of a lifetime of crafting and creative fun. I should know - it was the first craft I ever learned.
I'll be happy to sign the book to someone special. Here is the link to order. More photos from Kids Embroidery below. And of course, any of my other books are available signed via my website. In the middle of January, I will be shipping signed copies of my newest book Crafting a Colorful Home. Next week, I hope to have my website taking orders for that title.
Saturdays, all winter, I sell our lamb at the Amherst Winter Farmers Market at the Amherst Middle School from 10 to 2. If you are local to here and need a celebratory meal, we can supply you with a festive leg of lamb. The cost is $12 per pound for farm-raised grass fed lamb and they weigh a little more than 4 pounds each and should serve 6 to 8 people. Email me at kristinnicholas@gmail.com for more information. I can supply instructions for roasting it.
Here are some fun things I found on the web this week.
• Have you noticed the renewed interest in Paint By Numbers? I did them as a kid and loved the process of filling in the little shapes with color. I have discovered a website that will take your own photo and turn it into a Paint By Number kit. It is called Easy123Art and you can check it out here.
• Since we are all about our sweet little kittens here, All the kittens have homes to go to and are slowly leaving the nest - boy will it be quiet here! I couldn't help but be enchanted with all the fantastic Kittens and Mittens designs in the recent Spoonflower contest. Check them out here. When I have time, I want to pick a design out and make Julia a little bag out of it.
• If you like to do needlepoint, check out these gorgeous Gem Ornaments stitched on plastic canvas and designed by Diane of The Crafty Pod blog. LOVE!
• We love this crunchy sea salt here at our farm. We use it on our lamb all the time. It adds a nice crunch to any meal.
• Found these photos of some gorgeous chunky knit afghans on the decorating blog SF Girl by Bay. Check them out.
That's it for this evening. There are a couple of my free patterns below plus some others I sell on my website. Thanks as always for your support of our family and farm.
Happy Holidays!
Kristin Nicholas
