Good September Knitting and Stitching Friends -
September has arrived - along with the beauty of the autumn light and the blooming of the sunflowers. Over on my blog, I have been sharing photos of the gorgeous flowers. On Friday, I am doing an up-close post about all the different varieties I grow. Make sure you pop on over to check it out then. Sunflowers are one of my favorite flowers. I find them so beautiful and bountiful and happy. Stitchwise, I am working on a new crewel embroidery piece featuring the different varieties of sunflowers from the garden. You can follow along with the progress on my Instagram feed. Here is my progress thus far.
Today's big news is the arrival of 6 new colors of my sock yarn which is produced by Regia/Schachenmayr. This collection was inspired by my favorite ikat fabrics. Each colorway is printed onto a ecru background. The resulting knit fabric is sophisticated looking and fun to knit. Look for the new colors at your own local yarn store.
Julia is back to school and in the tenth grade. She is beginning at a new school which has been very difficult for all of us so far. I keep telling her that change is hard and I'm hopping she will settle in soon. I realized the other day that I had not taken a photo of her in months. She was sitting cuddling with her cat Tommie and I snapped this one. I can't believe how fast it has all gone by. I'm in agreement with the old saying "Being a parent is the hardest job there is." But it is also most rewarding.
I wish all of you a fantastic new "school year." Here's to the possibilities!
My best,
Kristin Nicholas
