Colorful Stitchery - 65 Embroidery Projects to Personalize Your Home
August Harvest News from
Kristin Nicholas Designs
Greetings Knitting and Stitching Friends -
Wow! The summer is almost over. Where did it go? I trust you have had a chance to relax, enjoy the outdoors, eat some yummy veggies and fruits, and pick some flowers. We have had a busy summer. Julia began school yesterday and I feel like I can get back to work creating and stitching, writing and harvesting. You probably can tell by my header that the sunflowers are blooming here at the farm. They have just begun and I will be sharing the different varieties on the blog as each matures.
This week's biggest news is the re-release of my book Colorful Stitchery. This new version has been completely re-designed and is published by Roost Books. It looks very current and sports a beautiful blue and aqua themed cover. Roost is the publisher of my upcoming January 2015 Crafting a Colorful Home. When they discovered that Colorful Stitchery was out of print, they jumped on the chance to bring it back. You see.... EMBROIDERY IS A POPULAR CRAFT NOW - much more popular than when CS first came out. I can't wait to reach a new generation of stitchers with the beautiful new edition.
If you purchased the original Colorful Stitchery, there is no need for you to buy this one (the original had an orange themed cover). But if you are new to stitchery and my designs, hop on over to my website to place an order for a signed copy. Colorful Stitchery will be released September 21st. I will be shipping signed copies after that date. Leave a note in the notes section of the order to have the book signed to you or someone else, otherwise I will sign it generically. (Note that if you order now, your Paypal account will be billed but the book will not ship until September 21st.) You can of course purchase it from your local bookseller or wherever you buy books.
If you want to take a chance on winning one of 10 free copies, enter over on the GoodReads site here. Contest ends September 4th.
I always have a lot of irons in the fire. It is difficult for me to keep things bottled up as many of my projects take so long to be realized. Often, I have finished one a year before it actually is published or produced. Last spring I decided to try something totally on my own - a product that is sold only on my website and produced by me exclusively. To say there was a learning curve would be an understatement. In late June, I announced a new line of easy embroidery kits for beginning stitchers. The Vintage Country Embroidery Collection is a result of me being inspired by a flea market find many years ago. You can learn more about the kits below. They make fantastic back to school gifts for kids or anyone wanting to learn to stitch.
Check out my embroidery linens and crewel wool threads on my embroidery supply page here. I also have a host of downloadable PDF's for stitching. Read on below for other products for your upcoming stitching needs.

That's it from here on the farm. Follow along with me on my blog Getting Stitched on the Farm here. In September I will be featuring the bounty of the sunflower garden! I can't wait.
I wish you a fabulous Labor Day weekend (if you are in the USA) full of color, creativity, friendship and fun.
Let me close with this quote as the kids go back to school from Albert Einstein.....
"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."
My best,
