Happy Spring from Kristin Nicholas Designs
Hello Colorful Friends!
December 17th! Geeeeeez Louise as my Dad used to say. How did the time fly by? I'm popping into your inbox today to check in and see how you are faring in the ramp-up to the holidays. I haven't had time to think about what we are doing for the holidays because I have been immersed in my pottery studio ever since the Holiday Open House in the beginning of December.
I want to thank all of you who came out to the 5th Annual Holiday Open House. It was an amazing weekend. Not only did we have a great crowd, we also had a massive snowstorm. I've just posted a photo wrap-up over on my blog. You can see and read that here. Here is my favorite photo from the event - this is little Connor who took a liking to Beau. He is the son of Julia's Pre-K/Kindergarden teacher Ellen/ aka Miss Dandeneau. Connor has come every year of his life to the Open House and he really took a shining to Beau. What a sweet boy and dog.
Here is a short video of the town truck making the road safe for visitors. That is one big truck.
I wanted to let you all know that I have finally updated my webshop with new pieces of my handmade pottery and new tea towel designs. I will be shipping every order out on Friday by USPS Priority Mail on time to get them to you for holiday gifting. After Friday, I will not be shipping any orders until after the new year. I should have done this web update earlier but there has been absolutely not an inch of time. Thanks for looking at www.kristinnicholas.com and for your support of our farm and family.
I am running a special offer - Buy 1 - Get 1 Free (BOGO) on my latest book Crafting A Patterned Home. I'll be happy to sign a copy to you or a friend. Note that books are shipped Media Mail so will not reach you in time for Christmas.
In between all the pottery making, tea towel sewing, and hosting Thanksgiving, the sheep were sheared! Here is a photo of Master Blade Shearer Kevin Ford at work. We are expecting lambs come January so stay tuned for that.
Here are some good links I have discovered.
• My niece Olivia alerted me to Anthropologie's Rittenhouse Square massive use of pom poms in their exterior holiday decoration. You know I'm pom pom crazy. Maybe you are too. Here are some photos Liv sent.
• Farmer Mark is enjoying the YouTube channel by Sandi Brock, a Canadian sheep farmer. Check it out here. Evidently others are too because she has 81,600 subscribers! Who knew so many folks are interested in sheep.
• I look forward to clementines every holiday season. Here's a bit about their history.
• The knitter behind the cardigans Tom Hanks wore in the new Mr. Rogers movie. We went to see it and loved it.
• Why the Gluten Free Girl gave up food blogging. Very interesting read for me who has been blogging since 2006. The blogging world has changed so much.
• Needlepoint is becoming hip again.
• Craft store AC Moore is no longer.
• As an artist and teacher, I found this article incredibly interesting.
I'm not sure I will have time to write to you again before Christmas. I want to take this moment to thank you all for the support, for opening my emails, for cheering me on with all my assorted creative endeavours, for reading my blog, for purchasing the things I make, and for sharing my love of color and pattern. I wish you and yours a very Happy Christmas and Holiday Season.
Yours in color and creativity,
Kristin Nicholas

Here is a video of my Talk at Google. I went to Cambridge, Massachusetts and spoke at their offices there in late June.
A fun video of our farm, our farmhouse, and my family. Our farm is located 2 hours from Boston and 3 1/2 hours from NYC. We are at the northern most part of western Massachusetts bordering Vermont. Our farm is 15 minutes off of Route 91, the north/south highway connecting Montreal to NYC.
