Happy Spring from Kristin Nicholas Designs
Hello Colorful Friends!
October is flying by here at the farm. We had our first frost and sadly most of my garden flowers are dead. Such a sad day and a long wait until next year. I harvested as many zinnias as I could and am keeping them going in my vases around the house.
The sheep are still out on pasture grazing. They will be as long as the grass holds out -- usually til mid November or so. They love this cooler weather and move around a lot more now than in the hot summer.
A couple weekends ago, I did my first official pottery show at the North Quabbin Garlic and Arts Festival. It was a fun time and I met so many nice people. I wrote a blog post about it here. Here are a couple photos from the day. There are more on the blog.
I am continuing with my 100 Days of Vases project over on Instagram. I'm on Day 63! of #100daysofvases. Thank you to all of you have commented, liked and cheered me on. It means a lot to me. You can follow this challenge on Instagram here and on my Kristin Nicholas Designs Facebook Page here.
The big news today is my sister Jenn if hosting a Pop-Up Pottery Sale at her home in northern NJ next Monday October 14 from 4-6. Here is a link to Google Maps. Hope to see some of you at Jenn's house.

For all of you who live far from western Massachusetts and northern NJ, I will be selling my ceramics on-line this fall. I hope to get some pottery listed within the next couple weeks and will announce the shop opening here on this newsletter and on my blog.
I've got some exciting knitting news coming very soon. Stay tuned for that and in the meantime, if you need a good Christmas Stocking Pattern for a new person in your life, check mine out on either my website or on Ravelry.
Mark and I continue to sell our lamb, my pottery and tea towels at the Amherst Farmers Market every Saturday from 7:30 to 1:30. In addition, I will be at the Northampton Tuesday Market Oct 22, 29 and November 5th. I have been thrilled to meet several readers of this newsletter and Instagram friends at the market who have come to buy vases and lamb. The Amherst Farmers Market continues until the weekend before Thanksgiving so maybe I will see you there.
Lastly - if you have gotten this far - my friends and I will be having my Annual Holiday Open House December 7 + 8. Mark your calendar if you want to save the date to come. NOTE THAT THIS A CHANGE IN THE DATE BECAUSE I DIDN'T REALIZE THANKSGIVING IS SO LATE THIS YEAR.
Here are some good links I have found. I'm sorry the list is a bit short this time but I've been too busy making pots to spend much time on the internet.
• This interesting article on color, nature and commerce on the Business of Home site.
• Sherwin Williams has announced their 2020 Color of the year. Read about it here.
• Do you read books anymore or do you just read on the internet? This article is interesting.
• Artist Wendy Chien did A Year of Knots project. It turned into a book. You can read about her experience on Domino here.
• I think this woman likes pattern more than me! And she definitely has more $ than I do. Check out her home here.
Yours in color and creativity,
Kristin Nicholas

Here is a video of my Talk at Google. I went to Cambridge, Massachusetts and spoke at their offices there in late June.
A fun video of our farm, our farmhouse, and my family. Our farm is located 2 hours from Boston and 3 1/2 hours from NYC. We are at the northern most part of western Massachusetts bordering Vermont. Our farm is 15 minutes off of Route 91, the north/south highway connecting Montreal to NYC.
